The Tororo county south mp Fredrick Angura has launched a campaign of making the constituency green in the next five years. Angura’s plan is to see every household in Tororo County south receive fifty tree seedlings for planting during this rainy season which will include citrus fruits.
The Mp launched the campaign today while delivering over 5000 tree seedlings to Tororo prisons farm as part of the 20,000 tree seedlings to be delivered. The campaign will later be rolled out to the whole constituency as a way of controlling erosion and providing timber and firewood to residents.
While delivering the trees on behalf of the MP, Michael Ekaset asked the local leaders to promote corporation between the prison authorizes and the local communities for coexistence.
Otim Robert, the assistant superintendent of prison who represented the officer in charge Morukatipe farm applauded Angura for taking such a wise decision of planting trees especially at Morukatipe prison farm that will go a long way in increasing the wood load for both firewood and timber for their workshop.
Otim said the tree seedlings have come at the right time and will be planted along the contours to prevent soil erosion which is currently a big challenge and around the prison compound to beautify the compound.
