Paya Secondary school, one of the government schools in Tororo district is battling with many challenges among them understaffing.

Speaking to East Fm during an exclusive interview today, the school Head teacher Mwambu Andrew confirmed that five teachers were transferred without any replacement by the Ministry in 2014 and one was retirement.

The school is currently having only 8 teachers and this has greatly contributed to a decline in the performance of the school.

Accoring to Mwambu, Students have not had any English lesson for some time now adding that apart from English language they also lack teachers to handle Agriculture, Commerce and Computer among other subjects.

Meanwhile the LC3 Alfred Oketcho Soye acknowledges the challenge and says they have no mandate to employ teachers.
