Interpol officers under Salama Operation have today burnt marijuana worth over 50 million shillings confiscated from Bukedi Region. The marijuana was burnt at Tororo Police barracks ground today afternoon.

Speaking to journalists, Detective Benon Muhwezi, the  in charge of Intelligence  drugs operations at the CID headquarters, said such operations are being conducted countrywide as well as in other countries in East Africa.

He noted that Countries within East Africa came up with Operation Salama to reduce on the deaths caused by drug abuse such as Marijuana.

Muhezi identified Busia district as leading in the production of Marijuana in Bukedi region with Kenya as their target market. He revealed that the operation will continue appealing to communities to co – operate with the officers during such operation.
